“Can Animals be Gay?”

“Can Animals be Gay?”

Here’s a preview of “Can Animals be Gay?” an article due to run in the New York Times magazine http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/04/magazine/04animals-t.html?pagewanted=1 April 4 about same-sex couplings and their roles as “parents” to offspring in the animal world.  The bottom line is that the research on the subject matters confirms that same-sex mating and “parenting” happens in nature.  It’s an objective observation.  But what’s interesting is how anti-gay forces are so afraid of this truth that they attempt to discredit the scientists as gay activists, despite the fact that the lead researcher in the albatross study is a straight woman.  I love the fact that the bird couples that famously nuzzle each other in the shape of a heart were always assumed to be male-female when in fact they were often both females!
